Position Description
The Department of Physics at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Academic Year) with the appointment starting in Fall 2025.

The Position
We seek an Assistant Professor specializing in, Biophysics/Physics or related field, who will significantly contribute to our undergraduate and graduate programs. This open-field search targets candidates with a keen interest in teaching and conducting research in biophysics.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop both existing and new courses in Biophysics in line with the department's objectives. They will also be tasked with building a nationally recognized, externally funded research program in Biophysics. Further responsibilities include advising undergraduate students, contributing to university and professional service, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the university.
As a teaching institution, CSUDH expects faculty members to teach approximately four courses per semester, with potential for course release through university programs or external funding. The appointment will begin in August 2025, commencing the 2025-2026 academic year.

Department of Physics
The College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences, one of the five primary instructional units of the university, houses the Physics Department. This academic unit provides students with the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research at major laboratories and gain a solid grounding in both theoretical and experimental aspects of physics and biophysics.
Our department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in both Physics (with concentrations in General Physics, Physical Science, and Electrical Engineering) and Biophysics. Additionally, we offer a Master of Science in Systems Engineering.
Our faculty members, all of whom hold doctorate degrees, are dedicated to teaching excellence and are actively involved in research and other scholarly activities. The small class size within the department fosters frequent and meaningful student-teacher interactions.

Additional Information
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6,221 to $13,224 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year); The anticipated hiring salary is $6,750 to $7,600 per month. This position will be commensurate with experience and current CSUDH faculty salaries in the academic department/discipline. Faculty salaries are subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. Summer research grants, moving expenses, start‐up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
