We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior IT Security Administrator to join our talented team. This role will require advanced skills in network and system security, including the ability to perform complex security assessments, implement security controls, respond to security incidents, maintain compliance, and actively monitor for threats, often requiring a strong understanding of security policies and best practices, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks across an organization's IT infrastructure.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth security audits, implementing security hardening techniques, investigating security incidents and breaches, and providing expert security advice to stakeholders.
  • Perform system security reviews and assessments.
  • Implement security patches and updates on systems.
  • Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation.
  • Stay updated on emerging security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Review and approve security configurations on new systems.
  • Assist in security projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • College degree in a technical or managerial related discipline with five (5) or more years of practical experience in a Cybersecurity, Engineering, T&E or A&A (formerly C&A) related field.
  • High school diploma or GED is acceptable with greater than seven (7) years practical experience in a Cybersecurity, Engineering, T&E or A&A (formerly C&A) related field.
  • Experience with Information Assurance tools such as DISA Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and may be required to hold a Full Security Control Assessor qualification.
  • Experience in Cyber Security, Engineering, Test & Evaluation, (T&E) and/or Security Control Assessor (SCA) under a Certification & Accreditation (C&A) and/or Assessment & Authorization (A&A) process.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process or prior experience with the Defense Information Assurance & Certification Accreditation Process (DIACAP).
  • Deep knowledge of network security protocols (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
  • Expertise in system hardening techniques for various operating systems.
  • Understanding of security concepts like access control, encryption, vulnerability management.
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Knowledge of cryptography, secure coding practices, and data encryption techniques.
  • Experience with cloud security architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to assist with the preparation and maintenance of process artifacts, traceability documents purposed for compliance with Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing up to classified information and supervise and/or maintain the operational security posture for an information system or program.
  • Demonstrated communication skills to interact with project and security managers; clearly explain technical concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Required Certificate:

  • Must possess a Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 CSWF certification.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
    • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
