This position performs a variety of recycling and custodial duties in and around the buildings and grounds of Prairie Farms Orrville. The primary focus of this position will be recycling and trash duties for any location in Orrville.

Department Duties

  • Recycling duties for all production & non-production locations (including plastics, cardboard, barrels, office paper, shredded paper, etc.)
  • Minor non-production maintenance
  • Provide general grounds cleanliness including emptying and cleaning trash receptacles
  • Maintain and operate job-related grounds keeping equipment and custodial equipment
  • Perform safety checks on equipment
  • Perform minor repairs as per work order requests
  • Keep work area, warehouse, and storage rooms neat and orderly
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Communicate with outside vendors to manage recycling trailers and materials
  • Provide support for the wastewater treatment plant as needed
  • Responsible for receiving, inventorying and distributing food grade chemical supply
  • Operate equipment relating to recycling such as the balers, drum crusher, and forklifts
  • Clean and maintain recycling equipment

Supervisory Responsibility/Reporting and Working Relationships

  • Reports to the Maintenance Manager
  • Interacts with Group Leaders at all locations
  • Back up recycling positions
  • Back up Building & Property Maintenance Technician

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Must adhere to time sensitive production schedules
  • Must be able to multi-task & coordinate an ever changing work load
  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • Must be able to perform physical labor including reaching, bending, grasping, pulling, pushing, lifting and climbing.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis

Education and Experience

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have good driving record and be insurable by company standards
  • Class A CDL required
    1. Hazmat certification required or willingness to obtain one within 60 days
    2. Will drive Class A CDL/Non-CDL box truck or other company vehicles
  • Tow motor certified and able to run small equipment
  • General working knowledge of grounds and building maintenance
  • Mechanical background required
  • Must be able to handle all types of small power tools
  • Ability to safely operate compactors and powered industrial equipment
  • Ability to adhere to all safety guidelines

Position Days / Expected Hours of Work

  • Monday thru Saturday as scheduled or needed
  • Sunday as required or scheduled
  • 5am start time
  • Days and hours will vary based upon production needs, projects and seasonality
  • Overtime required

Travel

  • Will run production, non-production and maintenance errands as needed
