Your impact

Knack Works, a Jacobs Company, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with a passion for engineering automated solutions to join the team on-site in Northern Virginia. Knack Works is focused on providing scalable and automated cloud-native solutions that enable their customers to perform their national security missions in an ever-changing environment of new technologies and evolving threats. The flagship product, the “Knack Stack,” introduces flexible and automated hybrid cloud infrastructure as a service for cloud-agnostic deployments and automation. It is designed to provide a fully-featured and accredited cloud-native environment that works offline in secure environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily activities of configuration and operation of cloud and on-prem equipment
  • Seamlessly implement technical architectures into cloud and on-prem infrastructure, including design, maintenance, support, and planning
  • Responsible for identifying the optimal cloud and on-prem based solutions for existing and emerging use cases
  • Ensure the cloud and on-prem solution meets availability, accessibility, scalability, and cost-based needs
  • Architect and implement cloud and on-prem security features, to include ensuring interfacing with identity services and the proper processing of sensitive data from a protection, encryption, transport, storage, access, and auditing standpoint
  • Work through the development lifecycle with cloud and on-prem technologies, including CI/CD releases
  • Seek to automate manual tasks and build automation into the configuration management of the system environments
  • Monitor and track problem solutions for all clients, server, storage, and network devices
  • Provide Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems and assist in the resolution of Tier 3 technical fixes

Required:

  • BA/BS Computer Science, or BA/BS Engineering
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph
  • 10 years of relevant technical experience
  • Must work on-site in Northern Virginia
  • Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes
  • Experience developing tools with Python and Go
  • Experience with CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment) frameworks
  • Experience with advanced orchestration on cloud platforms
  • Experience with RHEL system administration
  • Strong proficiency with git
  • Experience with automation tools such as Puppet or Ansible

Here's what you'll need

Desired:

  • Current Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification
  • Current Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification
  • Current Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification
  • Ability to implement Helm charts from scratch
  • Ability to create container images from scratch
  • CI/CD experience with GitLab
  • Experience with on prem virtualization such as KVM, LibVirt, or VMware
  • Experience with packaging software with rpm, Koji preferred

180,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

200,000.00

Employee total compensation is designed with total well-being in mind. The base salary range for this position is $180,000.00 to $200,000.00. When evaluating compensation, it's important to note Knack's unique total compensation model which includes an additional PSP and IBA contribution. The actual salary is dependent upon work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience and relevant education.
