Starting Salary: $17.00/Hour

Work Environment: Monday through Thursday 5:00am – 3:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays as needed

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Material Handler/Packaging Support employee to join our team. This role will involve operating a forklift to move materials and finished products within the facility, as well as assisting with the packaging of doors at the end of the production line. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate a forklift to transport materials, components, and finished doors between various areas of the production facility.
  • Assist in the final packaging of doors at the end of the production line, ensuring that products are properly wrapped, labeled, and prepared for shipment.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas, ensuring proper organization and inventory control.
  • Ensure the correct quantities and types of materials are available for production.
  • Inspect materials and finished products for quality and report any issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the warehouse, production area, and packaging stations.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and ensure materials are stored safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Work closely with production and shipping teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery of products.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of the forklift.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on the forklift and report any issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with other tasks as needed to support production and shipping operations.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience operating a forklift is required.
  • Ability to safely lift and move heavy materials 40 pounds and operate machinery in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in packaging, warehouse, or production support roles is a plus.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Basic math skills for inventory management and counting materials.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.

Additional Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Forklift experience is required.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical manufacturing environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds and is regularly exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme hot and cold temperatures.

Travel:

This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
