KBR has a need for an energetic and dynamic Systems Engineer (SE) to join its talented team in Sioux Falls, SD. KBR is the primary contractor to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for performing work at the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD. This position will be part of a multidisciplinary staff, focusing on planning, development, and integration of the data management, processing, archiving, and distribution capabilities of remote-sensed data from the location at EROS and in the cloud.
The System Engineer (SE) will perform all facets of systems engineering to support the USGS Landsat Data Processing and Archive System. The candidate will evaluate new applications, system requirements, developments in field of expertise, and evolving business needs to recommend appropriate solutions and alternatives. Under general direction, uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems, or direct the daily activities of a development team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy. Innovative thinking, along a broad and diverse team, makes this position exciting and rewarding. This role is primarily on-site, allowing for the full collaboration with our customer and team. We are open to discussing some consideration for remote work as part of our employment package.
Three years of continuous residency in the U.S. for issuance of a Government Security credential
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 5 years system engineering experience
Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements
