Lead Engineer - Pipeline Integrity

Providing discipline expertise.

  • Responsible for data collection and gathering of information of multiple sources for preparation of integrity studies.
  • Leading engineering assessments based on applicable codes (e.g API 579, BS7910, ASME B31G, NG18, Shannon and Kastner assessment methods, DNVRP F101 etc.
  • Carry out Pipeline Integrity management for all sizes and lengths of client’s pipelines. Equipment assessment experience is desirable.
  • Prepare Integrity assessment reports, which may include ILI reports, Fitness for Purpose (FFP) / Recommendations for Repair Reports (RRR), ILI raw data, Direct Assessment reports for life extension.
  • Provide recommendations for repair and methodology configuration to be adopted for repair, time frame for repair etc.
  • Represent asset integrity discipline on contract / project / service line.
  • Carryout Cathodic Protection studies in support of projects at FEED or operational phases.
  • Proactively supports the introduction of innovation, new ideas and practices to improve overall performance.
  • Support and provide technical input for life extension studies of aged assets.
  • Develop and implement pipeline integrity management systems.

Definition and approval of technical scopes.

  • Contributes to defining asset integrity project objectives and deliverables.
  • Reviews existing processes and suggests improvements to enhance the efficiency of project planning and scheduling.
  • Provides recommendations on project structure, methodologies, and technical innovations by developing practical and cost-effective solutions to challenges within pipeline integrity and related engineering fields.

Executing and managing assigned scope of work.

  • Oversees and engages in the execution of asset integrity-focused tasks and projects.
  • Manages project delivery, ensuring adherence to main contract deliverables, scope compliance, quality standards, and profitability.
  • Contributes to project success by resolving issues such as conflicting technical requirements and complex coordination needs.
  • Applies sound technical judgment to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluates work against established standards, objectives, and specifications.
  • Complies with relevant discipline-specific procedures and provides feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Manages key stakeholders to ensure successful execution and delivery of contracted activities.
  • Organizes, actively participates in, and occasionally leads technical workshops.
  • Frequently works from and represents the company in client offices.
  • Proactively identifies and mitigates project risks.

Contributing to business growth.

  • Contributes to business development through regular engagement, relationship building and delivery to clients, as well as identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand scope of work for Wood.
  • Contributes to engineering bids and proposals.

Supervising the pipeline integrity team.

  • Supervise a team of 3 to 5 people including collaboration with other Wood offices.
  • Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports.
  • Provides technical guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
  • Management of key stakeholders in the execution and delivery of contracted activities. Provides coaching and mentoring for less experienced staff, supports the development and retention of motivated and competent people.
  • Directs work assignments, scheduling, and reviews of work in progress.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects, with responsibility for cost, schedule, resource allocation and risk.
  • Supervises delivery of consultancy projects.
  • Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements and technical/design safety requirements.
  • Significant experience (>15 years) working in the on- and offshore oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrable senior technical experience in Integrity Management, Cathodic Protection, and engineering project management.
  • Demonstratable experience in the selection, application, and utilisation of pipeline integrity management software.
  • Suitable engineering/metallurgical degree and education from a recognised Academic institution. Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred).
  • Chartership, Professional Engineer (PE) status or equivalent relevant professional license/registration from a recognized national or industry engineering institution is desirable.
  • Demonstratable CPD record showing examples of technical and consulting development.
  • Cathodic Protection (CP) certification, Level 4 preferred.
