Salary Range: $70,000 to $80,000

About the Role: ALM, a leading data, information, and intelligence company supporting the practice and business of professionals in the legal industry, is seeking a full-time Product Data Specialist. Reporting to the Director, Legal Data & Research Content. The Product Data Specialist will assist the product team by managing and maintaining data assets powering Law.com Compass, ALM’s comprehensive, web-based platform that connects users to exclusive legal industry data, analysis, and market intelligence.

Candidate Profile: To be successful in this role, you need to be a highly-motivated, detail-oriented, and conscientious individual comfortable working in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment while juggling multiple tasks and willing to pivot and adjust priorities when necessary to improve the customer experience and/or support the needs of the business. Moreover, you should be intellectually curious, a humble learner and possess the self-confidence to ask questions and be proactive. Most importantly, the Product Data Specialist must be analytical, methodical, and logical, and able to use common sense reasoning when assessing data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, integrity, timeliness, uniformity, and validity.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs quality assurance on data sourced through multiple internal and external pipelines. Works closely with third-party data vendors and third-party data support staff to process data and resolve issues
  • Reviews and cleans data while verifying it is accurate, error-free, and product-ready
  • Uploads data, analyst reports, survey results, and related images to the product
  • Responds to inquiries related to product data and troubleshoots bugs and monitors data performance to ensure its reliability and timely accessibility within the product
  • Coordinates and collaborates closely with product and project managers, other data teams, analysts, and journalists to execute tasks, share information, identify opportunities and obstacles, improve processes, and overcome challenges
  • Supports the integration of new data sets into the product
  • Works under minimal supervision and exercises independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of data management and data quality assurance experience in a market and/or business intelligence setting
  • Proven experience managing large volumes of data without compromising data quality, accuracy, and usability
  • Possess a solid understanding of the principles of data management, which include data quality, data governance and data security
  • Possess a solid understanding of data relationships and valuation with a proven history of prioritizing customer needs and satisfaction
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of the legal industry and law firms is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and advanced Excel formulas is preferred
  • Experience with SQL or other relational database querying is preferred
