The Gilbert Power Plant comprises one 288 MW natural gas four-on-one combined-cycle train, as well as a 152 MW oil/gas-fired simple-cycle combustion turbine peaking unit. Located on a 232-acre site adjacent to the Delaware River in Hunterdon County. Originally commissioned in the 1920s as a coal-fired plant, it underwent a conversion in 1970 to utilize oil as its primary fuel and subsequently transitioned to natural gas.
Opportunity Summary
The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Supervisor plays a key role in setting operational goals, optimizing processes, and ensuring effective communication across the facility. This role includes managing emergency response plans, supervising, and developing staff, and implementing process improvements in maintenance and renovation projects. The O&M Supervisor also oversees all facility operations, ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations, manages maintenance programs, and collaborates with stakeholders to optimize plant performance.
The O&M Supervisor will be responsible for a fleet of 10 combustion turbine sites with a total of 14 GE Frame 5 combustion turbines operated in simple cycle. The successful candidate will have an office at the Gilbert site as it is centrally located to the NJ and PA sites and frequent, day travel to the sites will be required. There is a complement of 5 union employees that are tasked with the operation of the sites. These sites are called for operation during peak electric demands.

Working Relationships
The O&M Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for overseeing O&M personnel, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant and its related processes.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The regular work schedule follows a Monday through Friday workweek during standard day shift hours. This position will occasionally necessitate extended working hours and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or “On call” status may also be required.
Regular and frequent day travel will be required to support combustion turbine sites NJ and PA. Some additional travel will be involved to participate in Manager, Owner, User Group, or other offsite meetings.
Compensation
Initial starting compensation will range from $130,000 to $156,000 plus an annual performance bonus.

We are looking for a results-oriented supervisor with experience in the operations and maintenance of power generating facilities, coupled with a track record of leadership, career development, and operational success.
A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, energy management, or a related field is desired. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis. Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CMRP, Six Sigma) are a plus.
At least five years of advanced experience in operations and maintenance at a combustion power plant or similar facility. Supervisory experience is preferred, demonstrating the ability to manage teams and ensure compliance.
Strong technical knowledge of power plant operations, focusing on combustion and steam turbines, HRSG systems, and plant performance. Expertise in combustion turbine technology, including the operation and maintenance of GE Frame 5 turbines, and familiarity with industry standards.
Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to manage maintenance history, work orders, and inventory, essential for planning and directing work.
Ability to analyze equipment failures and maintenance data to diagnose root causes and improve plant performance, ensuring operational objectives are met.
Experience managing capital improvement projects and outage planning to align maintenance and operational goals with budget and strategy.
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, promoting a safe work environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with management, staff, and contractors, ensuring smooth operations and quick issue resolution.
Experience working in a regulated power market, with knowledge of market operations and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with Emerson’s Ovation operating software, optimizing plant control and performance management.
