JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our Underwriting Consultants are high level individual contributors responsible for overall management, business development, growth and profitability of a book of Large Account Casualty business spanning a wide range of industry segments and revenue bands.
Ideal candidate will have 7+ years of large account casualty underwriting with loss sensitive experience and work on a hybrid basis ideally from our New York City or Radnor offices.

1. Advanced technical expertise, underwriting skill and high level of knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices and procedures.
2. Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
3. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
4. Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.
5. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
7. Demonstrated leadership skills.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred.
2. Typically, a minimum eight years underwriting experience.
As determined by CNA and depending on the applicant’s experience and/or qualifications, candidates may be hired into one of three Underwriter positions: Underwriting Specialist, Underwriting Consultant or Underwriting Consulting Director. Typically, 3 - 10+ years of related experience.

In certain jurisdictions, CNA is legally required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $72,000 to $141,000 annually. Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
