Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately translating medical procedures, diagnoses, and services into standardized codes used for billing and insurance purposes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems, along with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records and documentation for accurate coding
- Assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation when necessary
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and payer requirements
- Assist with audits and quality improvement efforts
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Certification as a CPC, CCA, or CCS preferred
- 1+ year of experience in medical coding (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding systems
- High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and coding software
