Join a passionate group of engineers, collaborating closely with Product, Data Analytics, and other vital engineering teams like Payments, Fulfillment, and Customer Care. Together, you'll design and deliver impactful projects that redefine how we serve our customers. Leverage Technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Spring Boot, AWS, and Kubernetes to build robust services and data pipelines. Your work will lay the foundation for critical customer offerings, empowering millions. But this isn't just about code and infrastructure. You'll be a vital contributor, providing invaluable support and expertise to tackle complex business challenges, both for our valued Zalando customers and our internal teams.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Deliver, operate, monitor and optimize micro-services in a complex distributed environment.
• Take ownership of design, development, and deployment of large-scale data engineering solutions.
• Be in the driver's seat. You enjoy being proactive, addressing complex business problems and taking the initiative to independently explore and understand them.
• Collaborate with diverse teams of talented data analysts, applied scientists, business analysts, product managers, and software engineers to implement and maintain high-performance data-processing and data integration systems.
• You will build reliable and performant data infrastructure that integrates with internal and third party tools.
• Establish and enforce data quality standards throughout the data workflow and set up mechanisms to proactively identify and address issues before they impact data integrity.
• Deliver high quality software by designing for resilience and scalability and building on a solid foundation of automated testing, API design best practices and proven architectural patterns.
• Contribute to our growing engineering community and share your knowledge in an agile work environment.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF:

You have

• Experience in designing, developing, and operating micro-services in a complex distributed environment
• Proficiency in software development best practices, designing and implementing scalable data engineering pipelines and event processing
• Experience building data processing pipelines using distributed data processing frameworks like Apache Spark and pipeline orchestration (Airflow); Databricks experience is a plus.
• Experience in working with data warehouse systems like Redshift, Big Query, Snowflake
• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin; Python is a plus
• Hands-on experience with a cloud ecosystem (AWS, GCP)
• Good verbal and written English communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical topics and solutions clearly and concisely.
