What does a Process Engineer do?
As process engineer you are part of the Nijmegen plant team. Your main responsibility is to optimize the production processes. You collaborate with other local disciplines (i.e. production, maintenance, and QEHS departments) to achieve the joint plant safety, sustainability, quality and efficiency objectives. Regionally and globally you are linked to centrally based disciplines like Innovation&Development, Process&Technology, Finance, OPEX, and Engineering. Your main focus for the coming years is to help our product groups making the switch to recycled raw materials, further upgrade the production equipment towards the highest technology standards and drive Safety, Quality and Cost optimization projects.

Technical Expertise
- Plastic Extrusion Knowledge: Strong understanding of plastic extrusion processes, machinery, and materials.
- Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Ability to analyze production data (e.g. quality, yield, downtime) and apply data-driven decision making to resolve issues and optimize processes.
- Process Optimization: Skilled in identifying inefficiencies and implementing sustainable improvements across production lines (rate, uptime, yield, quality).
- Equipment Testing & Commissioning: Experience in testing, implementing, and scaling up new machinery or production modifications.
Standardization & Documentation
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Capable of defining, documenting, and maintaining standard operating conditions to ensure consistent high performance.
- Process Documentation: Detail-oriented in capturing technical knowledge, process settings, and learnings.
Collaboration & Coaching
- Cross-Functional Teamwork: Able to work effectively with central engineering, local maintenance, and production teams.
- Training & Coaching: Skilled in training and coaching operators and teams to ensure proper implementation and adoption of new standards and equipment.
- Project Collaboration: Comfortable collaborating with R&D, innovation, and portfolio teams on new product and process development.
Global & Strategic Impact
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a representative of the Nijmegen plant within global Manufacturing Process Groups (MPGs), sharing expertise and best practices.
- Industry Awareness: Stay up to date on new technologies, materials, and trends in the extrusion industry and translate that knowledge into actionable recommendations.
Qualifications
- Master or Bachelor degree, in a technical field such as Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Data Engineering, Continuous Improvement Engineering. Polymer or chemical industry experience is a plus
- Experience in Process Engineering or Continuous Improvement role
- Demonstrated experience with Lean manufacturing experience, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt desired. Data driven, problem-solving skills, statistical research ability
- Excellent project management skills, good communication, team player
- Self-motivated, autonomous, decisive and goal-oriented
- Fluent in Dutch and English
