MIECHV Parent Educator
Position Summary:
To strengthen the capacity of parents to be effective first teachers through personal/home visits, group meetings, resource networking, referrals and developmental screenings. MIECHV stands for maternal infant at early childhood at home visiting.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and make bi-monthly personal home visits at time convenient for parents.
- Participate in recruitment activities.
- Conduct developmental screenings yearly.
- Conduct monthly group meetings with parents.
- Complete personal visit records after each visit.
- Prepare reports as needed on services provided and families served.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Attend regular staff meetings.
- Participate in in-service training activities.
- Provide education to the community on PAT and its services.
- Complete PAT training and subsequent training required for national recertification.
- Any other responsibilities that may be required by the funding source.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
- Bachelor’s Degree in one (1) of the following: Child Development, Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education or other related bachelor degree.
- and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents;
- Or a two-year associate degree (AA), or two-year certificate program in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Nursing and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents;
- Or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, and demonstrated ability in working with young children and their parents;
- Or Sixty college hours and two years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents;
- Or successful completion of the Paraprofessional testing requirements as defined by Oklahoma City Public Schools, Human Resources Department, with two years of successful experience in a program working with young children and their parents.
- Previous experience working with families and small children preferred.
- Attend this training : Successfully complete the Parents as Teachers National Center parent educator certification.
- A minimum of 30 hours pre-service training for Foundational 1 & Model Implementation.
- A minimum of 15 hours training for Foundational 2.
- A minimum of 20 hours in-service training during the first year of employment.
- A minimum of 15 hours in-service training during the second year of employment.
- A minimum of 10 hours in-service training during the third year of employment and each year thereafter.
