At the San Angelo Area Office we are looking for a passionate, innovative, and skilled Transportation Engineer to help us design, build, and maintain safe and efficient infrastructure in the San Angelo District. You'll tackle exciting challenges (such as assisting in managing over $250 Million in active roadway construction or providing real time engineering analysis in the field), collaborate with a dynamic team of professionals, and directly impact the lives of Texans by improving mobility and connectivity in the 7-County San Angelo Area. In this position you will find that every location is a little different, from the rolling green terrain of Coke County to the flat, pump-jack filled energy corridor that is Reagan County. Transportation Engineer I: Performs transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Transportation Engineer II: Performs complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Transportation Engineer III: Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Transportation Engineer IV: Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Transportation Engineer V: Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations, maintenance and/or research. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
Experience:
Transportation Engineer I - 4 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer II - 5 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer III - 6 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer IV - 7 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
Transportation Engineer V - 8 years engineering, transportation engineering, or related engineering experience
