The Gilbert Power Plant comprises one 288 MW natural gas four-on-one combined-cycle train, as well as a 152 MW oil/gas-fired simple-cycle combustion turbine peaking unit. Located on a 232-acre site adjacent to the Delaware River in Hunterdon County. Originally commissioned in the 1920s as a coal-fired plant, it underwent a conversion in 1970 to utilize oil as its primary fuel and subsequently transitioned to natural gas.
Opportunity Summary
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager leads and drives the plant's environmental initiatives, ensuring all functions are executed reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant laws, regulations, permit conditions, policies, procedures, and community commitments. This role fosters strong, proactive relationships with plant management, employees, regulators, corporate teams, community stakeholders, and other key parties to support a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship.
The EH&S Manager provides oversight and support to nine other Heritage Project sites across PA and NJ, with occasional travel required to ensure compliance and provide on-site assistance.

Your scope of responsibility as EH&S Manager will include the following primary functions:

Working Relationships
The EH&S Manager reports to the Fleet EH&S Manager and coordinates work activity with all Plant Management, Plant Engineer, and Plant Administrator. Interfaces with contractor and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) personnel for the necessary support and coordination.
The EH&S Manager maintains a close working relationship with NAES corporate Environmental Support Services groups as well as Client corporate contacts.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
Regular scheduled workdays are Monday to Friday during standard day shift hours. This position requires flexibility for extended hours, varied shifts, and occasional weekend or holiday work, depending on schedules, workload, and plant conditions. Periodic "on-call" status is required, along with some travel to attend manager, owner, or user group meetings, as well as to support other power plant assets.
Compensation
Initial compensation will range from $100,100 to $140,000 and will include an annual performance bonus.

Bachelors or better in Environmental Sciences or related field.
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong passion for regulatory standards, environmental reporting, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Bachelor degree in environmental compliance, engineering, or related field or equivalent technical training knowledge and experience desired. Certification as Level 5 HAZWOPER desired. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis.
Proven experience in environmental compliance within an operating facility, preferably in the power plant or power-related industry, to effectively identify and propose opportunities for reducing environmental and safety risks and costs.
Strong understanding of power plant operations, including the interrelationship between environmental impacts and compliance within operation and maintenance functions.
In-depth knowledge of major environmental legislation related to air, water, hazardous materials, and waste management, with specialized expertise in at least one regulatory area.
Familiarity with applicable safety statutes and regulations.
Proficient in using continuous emissions monitoring (CEMS) software and state and federal electronic reporting systems.
Skilled in delivering training materials in a clear and easily understood manner.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a complex industrial environment, identifying and addressing compliance risks swiftly.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build consensus among internal and external stakeholders.
Strong writing and analytical abilities, capable of presenting facts, conclusions, and recommendations effectively in both formal and informal written communications.
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
