Job Description – Global R&D Scientist
Overview
As one of the most innovative companies in the world, FMC is looking for a Global R&D Scientist at our Stine Haskell research facility in Newark, Delaware. The successful candidate will work independently, collectively across business functions, supervise, and mentor a small team on projects related to the discovery, optimization and characterization of safe and sustainable new weed control technologies & support FMC herbicide discovery and development pipeline. He/she defines scientific approach to problems, develops hypotheses, tests them to lead projects to logical conclusions.
Responsibilities
The Global R&D Scientist provides strong biological understanding and technical expertise required to generate results showing leadership in herbicide discovery & development process. He/She generates extensive biological results through a series of tiered screens and special tests, interprets and reports the results and works closely with cross-functional teams within FMC, and across regions globally to provide technical solutions and maximize business value. Development, validation and implementation of new screens and bioassays also complements these activities. The successful candidate should have a good understanding of current and evolving weed control practices/problems in multiple markets or global regions and cropping systems and will apply this knowledge to the assessment of new herbicide discovery & development active ingredients. The Global R&D Scientist will generate greenhouse and field biological results and integrate this information with mode of action, environmental fate, crop and weed metabolism and other attributes generated by multiple technical teams to discover and develop superior new product offerings. The position calls for active networking with FMC regional field development specialists and marketing teams as well as strong interactions with the academic weed/crop science communities.
