What to Expect

As a CNC Programmer on the Die Shop Team, you are responsible for machining the most complex components of the dies and working with engineers to improve die designs from a machining standpoint. In addition, you work with engineers to push the boundaries of machining technologies and develop better methods, tools, and programming practices aimed at reducing die costs and lead times while improving final quality. 

What You’ll Do

  • Program 5-axis CNC Mills in a low-volume / high-mix workflow
  • Prepare operator documents and prove out programs on the floor with machinists
  • Work closely with engineers to provide crucial input on design for manufacturability 
  • Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines 
  • Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work
  • Tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary 
  • Provide feedback to engineers, other machinists and programmers on design and process improvement 

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of CNC mill programming experience 
  • 4+ years of 5 axis programming experience 
  • Proficient with basic shop tools and machines (manual mill, engine lathe, drill press, bandsaw, belt sanders, hand tools etc.) 
  • Experience with Heidenhain CNC controls
  • Experience machining dies (HP diecasting, stampings, injection molding etc.) 
  • CAD experience with CATIA V5 (basic navigation, model manipulation, and simple modeling)
