The University of Washington conducts research on sexually transmitted infections and infectious diseases. Much of this research is undertaken in the Public Health – Seattle & King County Sexual Health Clinic (SHC) at Harborview Medical Center.
The University of Washington Department of Medicine’s Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary Research Coordinator.
The Research Coordinator primary role is to manage a portfolio of studies related to STI and HIV undertaken in the SHC, including work related to developing study implementation procedures, recruitment, monitoring study progress, data analysis, and work with the UW institutional review board. Current projects include an NIH-funded study evaluating a Treponema pallidum transcription mediated amplification (TMA) assay for syphilis screening, studies of the microbiome, a discrete choice experiment, and a study evaluating a new treatment regimen for syphilis, and a study of HIV PrEP. Ongoing studies in the SHC change over time and we anticipate that the consultant will support new studies as they start and as other studies end.
This position is essential in coordinating development and implementation of a spectrum of studies, including study subject recruitment, data collection and management processes for research, and program performance evaluation. The work includes working with investigators and other study coordinators to define study implementation processes and develop IRB applications, helping to design and revise data collection tools, conducting data analysis, and report writing for internal and external partners. The coordinator will also be responsible for managing multiple data sets, developing data summaries and reports, analyzing data for manuscripts and helping to prepare manuscripts for publication.
Position Complexities:
This position requires a high degree of autonomy, personal initiative, discretion, and flexibility to develop new study implementation and data collection procedures, manage datasets, develop reports, and oversee QI procedures. The employee in this position must possess knowledge and understanding of the complexities of study implementation, assessment, evaluation, and QI processes. Position complexities include helping to coordinate multiple ongoing studies, work on IRB applications, and working with staff from a variety of studies as well as epidemiologists affiliated with the HIV/STI/HCV epidemiology group at Public Health - Seattle & King County, investigators, and clinical faculty.
This position will report to the PI (Dr. Matthew Golden) and will work with other researchers, clinical faculty, and key staff to successfully implement studies.

Minimum Qualifications:
