Description:

The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools & Instructional Programs is seeking a Part-time Early Childhood Education Teacher to instruct high school students in a Career and Technical Education Center setting. The teacher will guide and mentor students in the principles and practices of working with preschool-aged children. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers child development theories, classroom management techniques, and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, hands-on activities, and group discussions.
  • Practical Experience: Facilitate opportunities for students to gain practical experience through supervised fieldwork in preschool settings, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
  • Assessment: Evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and observations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
  • Mentorship: Offer guidance and support to students, helping them to develop their professional identity and confidence as early childhood educators.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with local preschools and early childhood education centers to establish partnerships that benefit both students and the community.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and trends in early childhood education and incorporate this knowledge into your teaching practices.

Requirements:

  • New York State Education Department Certification: Transitional A, Initial or Professional in Early Childhood Development and Learning 7-12.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring future educators.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and related educational software.

SALARY: As per labor contract.
