About the Role

As a Machine Operator at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in supporting operational efficiency and ensuring the production of high-quality steel tubing. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, has strong attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Shift: 1st Shift - 5:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Pay: $20 - $23 per hour plus Production Bonus - Recently averaging $3 to $5 per hour

What You’ll Do

• Maintains a clean work area and follows all safety rules and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
• Bands bundles of tubes and moves them to the cutting process or storage as needed.
• Works from rolling schedules to ensure correct size, gauge, length, and bundle configuration is processed.
• Operates overhead cranes, forklifts, and transfers to move materials efficiently.
• Performs visual inspections on tubes, removes burrs, and ensures inside/outside surfaces are clean.
• Conducts quality assurance inspections and provides recommendations to improve end product specifications.
• Identifies steel shapes, sizes, and mill tolerances to ensure proper processing.
• Prepares, stacks, and assembles bundles correctly to protect products from damage.
• Repackages and bands tubing according to customer requirements.
• Assists mill operators with setups and supplies tube mill machinery with coils of steel.
• Receives and unloads incoming materials from suppliers.
• Moves materials into inventory storage, staging areas, and work areas as required.
• Follows work instructions to produce tubing per customer specifications.

Who You Are

• Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic computations involving whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
• Capable of understanding and executing semi-complicated verbal and written instructions.
• Effective communication skills to interact with vendors, co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
• Ability to work under periodic supervision with a focus on progress and job completion.
• Willingness to learn and use measuring devices for tubing measurements.
• Dependable and consistently able to work scheduled hours at assigned locations.
• Legible handwriting and ability to record information accurately.
• Compliance with PPE requirements and adherence to all applicable safety policies.
