The Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex is a dynamic and versatile facility hosting a wide range of events, from sports competitions and expos to meetings and conferences. We are seeking a reliable and proactive Seasonal Part-Time Events Shift Manager to join our team and ensure the smooth execution of our diverse events.

Position Overview:

As a Seasonal Part-Time Events Shift Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of various events held at our complex. This position requires a highly organized and adaptable individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional leadership and customer service.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Manage and supervise event staff, including assigning tasks, providing breaks, and ensuring adherence to event protocols.
  • Run shifts effectively, maintaining a shift log and providing regular updates to Event Managers.
  • Monitor overall event flow, ensuring timelines are met and addressing any potential issues.
  • Collaborate with Park Police to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems that arise during events, demonstrating strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Work independently and make sound decisions with minimal guidance.
  • Adapt to the varying pace of different events, from fast-paced track meets to slower-paced gymnastics events.
  • Ensure the venue is clean, organized, and ready for each event.
  • Performs other related work duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have a High School diploma or GED,and have a passion for people.

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or shift management role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to navigate crowds and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • A passion for sports and events is a plus.

Supplemental Information

Schedule:

  • This is a seasonal, part-time position primarily from December to May.
  • Heavy workload during indoor track season (December-March), with daily events.
  • Events from March to May are primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
  • Flexible hours – Meaning Availability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Compensation:

Starting pay rate: $17.00 per hour.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans

You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
