The primary responsibility is to build frameworks and tools for software testing. The candidate must be able to understand the internal workings of the software, debug code, automate repetitive tasks, and implement new tools and/or frameworks as required in the quality process. Work directly with Software Development Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers to understand project requirements, review technical designs, and implement testing tools that help deliver quality software efficiently. Understand usage models and are capable of developing test cases and plans that approximate real-world environments and scenarios.
Purpose
A Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a developer with the primary responsibility of writing frameworks and tools to test products. SDETs can understand software internals, debug code, automate repetitive tasks, and implement new tools and frameworks needed to streamline our quality process. SDETs work directly with both Software Development Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers to understand project features, review technical designs, and implement automated test tools that help deliver quality features with efficiency. SDETs understand customer usage models and are able to develop test plans and test cases that approximate real-world environments and scenarios.
