The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Environmental Health, Division of Environmental Health Science and Practice (DEHSP) seeking a motivated officer to serve as Environmental Health Scientist (O-5 Billet/Non-Supervisory). The PHS officer selected for this assignment will serve as a scientist in the evaluation of maritime environmental public health issues and health hazards.

A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/) at the time the degree was obtained.
Qualifications and Skills
The position requires qualifications and skills to include specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CC-O5 billet grade level to include experience investigating gastrointestinal illness and other infectious disease outbreaks and providing public health recommendations and oversight to control ongoing outbreaks and preventing future outbreaks.
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to Department of Education Accreditation page.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. Salary:Please note that the salary is dependent on factors such as officer's rank, years in service, and location of duty station.
