Description
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as an assistant to the SAI in conducting his functions as the instructional leader.
- Implement the Program of Instruction (POI) as outlined by the US Army Cadet Command.
- Attend all scheduled or called AI meetings.
- No coaching of sports or similar activities outside of the JROTC Department unless approved by the DAI, BDE, CRS, AC, IAW CCR 145-2, Chap 5 para 5-9 a (7), pg. 67.
- Coach the units JROTC Color Guard, Rifle Teams, Drill teams, etc.
- Support and attend the annual JCLC (Summer Camp); this is a required attendance event with no exceptions. Be prepared to serve as a bus commander and ride on buses with cadets to and from JCLC as directed by the DAI.
- Be consistent and disciplined in planning and presenting the assigned LET level classes daily as assigned by the Senior Army Instructor (SAI).
- Maintain military proficiency on topics taught in the JROTC curriculum by attending JSOCC as required and distance learning (DL).
- Become familiar with Cadet Command’s portal and application systems. (JUMS, JCIM, Smart Cadet, etc.)
- Actively recruit students to enroll in JROTC programs and maintain or exceed cadet enrollment requirements.
- Receive, store, safeguard, issue, and account for all government property assigned to the JROTC program.
- Have proficient working knowledge of administrative and supply operations.
- Participate in all functions directed by the Director of Army Instruction (DAI).
- Be part of the public affairs program directed toward the school, school district, community, and civic groups to further enhance their understanding of the Mission of the JROTC program.
- Perform other additional duties as assigned by the SAI or DAI.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Non-commissioned officers (NCO) grades E6 through E9.
- High School Diploma. Associate degree within 5 years of hiring.
- Has not been out of military service for more than three (3) years.
- Meet current Army physical and weight standards as noted in CCR 145-2, dated 12 August 2022.
- Certified as a JROTC instructor by the US Army Cadet Command.
- Wear the Army uniform daily and meet personal grooming standards as outlined in AR 670-1.
- Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with students, SAI, parents, other teachers, and school administrators.
