SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
The Senior Coordinator of Intervention and Learning Supports provides district-wide leadership, coaching, and strategic oversight of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to ensure equitable academic, behavioral, and social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions. This role works in collaboration with school leaders, teachers, instructional coaches, and district teams to drive student-centered, data-driven interventions that support all learners.
This is a full-time, 12-month position, reporting to the Executive Director of School Supports.
Key Responsibilities:
MTSS Intervention Implementation & Strategic Leadership
- Lead and support district-wide implementation of MTSS frameworks to ensure consistency in tiered interventions.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and professional development to school leadership teams, interventionists, and educators on academic, behavioral, and SEL support structures.
- Establish clear MTSS processes for universal screening, data-driven decision-making, intervention strategies, and progress monitoring across IPS schools.
- Align MTSS efforts with special education, English language learning (ELL), and gifted & talented programming to meet diverse student needs.
Data-Driven Decision Making & Progress Monitoring
- Oversee district-wide MTSS and intervention data collection, analysis, and reporting to assess intervention effectiveness.
- Work with school-based teams to review and analyze student data, identifying trends, gaps, and areas for targeted intervention.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders, assessment teams, and school principals to develop data-informed instructional adjustments and resource allocations.
- Regularly report MTSS effectiveness and progress to district leadership.
Professional Development & Capacity Building
- Design and facilitate professional learning sessions on MTSS best practices, intervention strategies, and progress monitoring tools.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and training for interventionists, coaches, and school leadership teams to strengthen intervention planning and execution.
- Support teachers in identifying student needs and implementing appropriate, research-based interventions.
- Coordinate with district and school leaders to embed culturally responsive practices and equity-driven supports into intervention strategies.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary district liaison for MTSS implementation, working closely with principals, instructional leaders, counselors, and community partners.
- Develop and maintain strong communication systems to ensure teachers, families, and school staff are well-informed about intervention processes and available student support.
- Work in cross-functional collaboration with departments such as Special Education, English Learners, and Student Services to ensure seamless integration of interventions.
Resource Development & Program Evaluation
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend research-based intervention materials, assessments, and digital tools to support MTSS implementation.
- Ensure the development of school-based intervention teams, guiding them in structured intervention planning and implementation.
- Oversee the selection and use of evidence-based instructional resources for academic and behavioral interventions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in education, special education, curriculum development, or related field (required).
- 5–7 years of experience in classroom teaching, instructional leadership, intervention coordination, or student support services.
- Demonstrated expertise in MTSS, Response to Intervention (RTI), and data-driven instructional planning.
- Strong background in curriculum design, intervention planning, progress monitoring, and student support systems.
- Experience providing district- or school-level coaching, professional development, or administrative leadership.
- Familiarity with academic interventions, SEL programming, and behavioral supports.
- Valid Indiana Teaching License or equivalent certification required; Administrative Certification preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- This position requires travel between IPS schools and district meetings.
- The role includes leading professional development, coaching school teams, and analyzing intervention data.
