Overview & Responsibilities

Overview:

To recommend and implement repairs for all types of industrial and rotating equipment, including but not limited to compressors, turbines, and other equipment. Has the ability to document, erect, alter, install, align, repair, replace, disassemble, and reassemble, move and inspect most rotating equipment, using proper tooling and processes to complete work in a safe and timely manner to meet customer needs. Ability to plan and oversee the repairs with limited supervision. Has the ability to help train other employees in the functions and processes in the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes safety and quality at all times.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to work with little limited supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times when working with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
  • Uses appropriate equipment, tooling, drawings, work scopes, procedures, specifications and documentation to perform the primary function.
  • Ability to alter and overhaul most rotors, turbines, disc and blade holders, shafts, sleeves, gears, couplings, and all other forms of equipment needed to complete jobs.
  • Ability to set up all equipment needed to complete jobs.
  • Advanced knowledge and accuracy in using various measuring devices: micrometers, indicators, calipers, gauges, and other required tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Able to accurately measure and record all critical clearances and dimensions on turbines, compressors, and any other equipment necessary.
  • Able to pass the annual dimensional inspection test.
  • Able to understand and process documentation associated with turbo machinery such as inspection reports, photo logs, and hold tags.
  • Advance knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane and forklift operations.
  • Able to help train other hourly employees in repair processes and procedures.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Accepts ownership over work performance and stays abreast of job knowledge and new skill development. 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • 5-8 years’ experience with rotating turbo machinery
  • Advanced rigging capabilities
  • Advanced measuring capabilities
  • Experiences with turbines, compressors and other rotating equipment
