Description

Performs a variety of professional duties required to plan, develop, and implement retirement services; supports all ERFC retirement plans, including the delivery of complex and/or sensitive plan information; provides leadership in escalated situations to employees and retirees to facilitate resolutions; coordinates legal reviews and ensures that account updates based on legal guidance are timely; collects, analyzes, and provides reporting; tracks and audits member statements, deferred vested member retirement information, and claims; develops and provides professional development to staff.

Qualifications

Required

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, human resources, finance, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in defined benefit pension counseling, and/or defined benefit pension administration.
  • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Knowledge of theories, procedures, practices, materials, and methods related to defined pension retirement plans.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws affecting retirement eligibility and claims.
  • Proficiency in the use of technology and data compilation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to deal quickly and accurately with quantitative information and verify the correctness of actions.
  • Ability to interpret and assist with the development and or modification of processes, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to problem-solve multifaceted issues by analyzing information, evaluating results, and recommending solutions.
  • Ability to supervise, evaluate, and lead.
  • Ability to create an organizational culture of client-centered service.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships across the Division.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and/or present information to groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Preferred

  • Certification as an Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Retirement Plans Associate (RPA), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
  • Virginia certified notary public.
