INDIVIDUALIZED MAJOR PROGRAM (BL-INMP-IUBLA)

Department Information

As a program in the College of Arts and Sciences (the College), the Individualized Major Program (IMP) gives students the freedom to create multidisciplinary majors or minors that explore topics of their own choosing.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for assisting with the daily administrative functioning of the IMP.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks such as assisting with scheduling mid-program assessments, admission interviews, and final project review.
  • Updates and maintains forms used by the department.
  • Assists with the maintenance of student files and student databases.
  • Drafts donor relations letters.
  • Assists with the scheduling and planning of events such as departmental mixers, receptions, and graduations.
  • Answers the departmental phone and manages messages in the departmental email account.
  • May function as a first-line responder to students, and as such plays a vital role in attraction and retention of students.
  • May assist partner programs with administrative tasks on an ongoing basis.
  • Serves as a liaison to campus partners for cross-departmental student services initiatives, providing information, securing space reservations, scheduling planning meetings, and providing necessary documentation.
  • Provides assistance to student participants, stakeholders, faculty, and/or staff; acts as a resource by analyzing information, providing documentation, and pulling reports. 
  • Accurately maintains electronic records and databases.
  • Provides directions, support, and information to student organization representatives and other visitors to the department.
  • Assists with daily scheduling and gathering of student feedback. May prepare and disseminate handouts, presentations, or other materials.
  • May assist with ordering or creation of promotional materials for student organizations or departmental needs.
  • May provide guidance to other Student Services Coordinators.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or GED

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years in an office environment, higher education, or a related field

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$17- $18 per hour
