OSU Assist in the Office of the Dean of Students is seeking multiple Crisis Response Team Program Responders. These are full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty positions.
OSU Assist provides a compassionate mobile crisis response for non-life-threatening, but crisis-related, emergent scenarios such as behavioral health crises and mental health welfare checks. OSU Assist will be dispatched as an unarmed, first responder team, trained in behavioral health and crisis response. OSU Assist may provide an in-person response, sometimes in lieu of or, when appropriate, in conjunction with law enforcement. OSU Assist will only respond to calls if there are no reports of weapons or threats of violence. The OSU Assist team may also provide crisis response via phone or by other remote means.
This student-centric and trauma-informed response program will remain mindful of the unique nature of each individual and each situation or crisis and respond with care and appropriate resources. OSU Assist will be a critical resource in responding to matters such as welfare checks, survivor support, substance abuse, or mental health crises. The team currently responds to calls involving any individuals (students, faculty, and community members) who are needing crisis support on the OSU-Corvallis campus.
The OSU Assist Responder will be a live-on member of this multi-disciplinary response team that works closely with university departments and teams such as the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Health Services, the Student Care Team, the Center for Advocacy, Prevention, and Education, the Threat Assessment Team, the Bias Response Team, the Department of Public Safety, Diversity & Cultural Engagement, Equal Opportunity & Access, University Housing and Dining Services and others.
The creation of OSU Assist is an acknowledgement that there are many crisis-related situations that may not require the presence of armed law enforcement. However, given the ambiguous nature of many crisis situations, it is essential that this position closely coordinate with both on-campus and off-campus public safety and licensed law enforcement units.
The specifics around the operations of OSU Assist are continuing to evolve, but a possible outcome is a 365 days a year, 24/7 mobile crisis response team available to serve the OSU community. As the nature of the position includes the need to respond frequently and quickly to incidents across campus, a 2-3 bedroom apartment is provided to the employee as a convenience to the department and institution.
This position will report to the OSU Assist Crisis Response Team Coordinator and will be located in the Office of the Dean of Students in the Division of Student Affairs.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
The Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to supporting staff who provide trauma care by creating sustainable work environments. This position will predominantly serve on two-person teams on a daily rotation. This position will primarily serve in an on-call rotation with periodic training and supervisory meetings outside of the rotation. This position will not work an additional 8 AM – 5 PM schedule outside of the on-call rotation.
Shared office space.
This incident response work required for this position will involve a variety of offsite work locations that may include outdoor locations, private residences, or other locations within the community. As the nature of the position includes the need to respond frequently and quickly to incidents across campus, a 2-3 bedroom apartment is provided to the employee as a convenience to the department and institution. Partners and families are welcome to live in the provided apartment. Pets are allowed with certain limitations.
Will have to work holidays, evenings, nights, and weekends as associated with the on-call nature of OSU Assist.
This position is deemed essential, and the incumbent may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other university work curtailments or closures.
Expectation that when dispatched to respond, safe travel and arrival time to OSU Corvallis Campus work site will be within approximately 15-20 minutes.
