Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C++ programming language with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience developing and implementing accessible software for web, Android, or iOS platforms.
  • Experience working with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, switch controls, etc.).
  • Experience with accessibility auditing tools.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, Section 508, etc.).
  • Proficiency in programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Swift, JavaScript).

Responsibilities

  • Understand accessibility standards and best practices, and develop and implement accessible software.
  • Design, develop, and implement accessible features and improvements across YouTube's web, Android, and iOS platforms.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure accessibility is considered throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Write and maintain automated accessibility tests as part of the presubmit/postsubmit workflow.
  • File and track accessibility bugs, working with the appropriate teams to resolve them.
