The CalFresh Coordinator is an experienced student services professional responsible for independently managing a comprehensive CalFresh program within the Basic Needs Center. This role applies advanced knowledge of student life and food security to oversee outreach, case management, and contract administration. The Coordinator analyzes diverse challenges, develops solutions, and ensures compliance with state and university policies. This position leads a student team to plan and execute outreach efforts, provides tailored support to high-acuity CalFresh applicants, and collaborates with campus and community partners, serving as the primary liaison with Yolo County to enhance program success. Additionally, the Coordinator contributes to strategic planning and long-term program development, integrating CalFresh initiatives into broader basic needs services to promote student well-being.

The Basic Needs Department serves as the central hub for addressing essential student needs, providing comprehensive support through a combination of physical and virtual services. As a department, we oversee the Basic Needs Center and coordinate campus-wide efforts to address food security, housing stability, financial wellness, and other essential resources, including health care, mental well-being, transportation, personal hygiene, and emergency assistance for students with dependents. The Basic Needs team is committed to taking action toward justice and belonging through prevention, intervention and emergency relief efforts. Services include walk-in and virtual support, case management, emergency and long-term food assistance, support for unhoused students, and financial resources, empowering students to navigate systemic barriers and continue their education with respect and dignity.
