Job Description:
Summary:
Perform tasks directly related to the machining of graphite, silicon carbides, and other specialty materials.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work is job oriented, following detailed blueprints, customer specifications, and internal work instructions;
- Operate hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and computers, (desktop and machine control varieties)
- Operate powered machine tools such as vertical CNC mills, manual and CNC lathes, surface and centerless grinders, cup grinders, bandsaws, and other machining equipment;
- Perform machine setups and/or operate equipment that is setup by more skilled operators;
- Complete machining tasks within a customer job;
- Routinely perform initial setup on new parts;.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing guidelines to consistently produce high-quality products.
- Edit program feeds/speeds/taper adjustments to accommodate tolerances.
- May be tasked with preventative maintenance and housekeeping duties.
Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Physical Requirements):
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Possess math and precision measurement skills and able to read machine drawings;
- Possess advanced knowledge of machining methods;
- Able to interpret inspection reports to make offset adjustments on CNC;
- Astute attention to detail to drive Safety and Quality;
- Ability to perform visual checks and handle materials responsibly while wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
- Work any shift as required to meet business needs;
- Experience in working in an ISO 9000/14000 environment a plus;
- Candidate must have the capacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control laws.
Physical Requirements
- Completion of pre-employment physical required
- Physical requirements of the job include:
o Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. as needed.
o Capability to ascend and descend ladders using a three-point grip.
o Frequent tasks will include squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and standing.
o Occasional work may be required in confined workspaces.
o Ability to perform hand squeezes requiring force up to 30 lbs.
o Performing repetitive tasks or motions for extended periods.
o Maintaining balance and coordination, especially when working on elevated platforms or in areas with uneven surfaces.
o Capability to perform physically demanding tasks over extended periods, often in varying environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, or humid environments).
o Adequate visual acuity to perform detailed inspections or precision work.
