The Agricultural Shared Service Center and the Academic Shared Service Center, departments of the Division of Finance and Budget, are actively recruiting motivated, people-centered individuals to join their teams in the role of Budget Analyst. Work directly with the Dean, Directors, and Department Heads, to perform fiscal analysis, accounting, and budgeting of business activities for assigned units with an emphasis on excellent customer service. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities: Work with Directors and Department Heads of assigned area to perform fiscal analysis, accounting, and budgeting of business activities for assigned units with an emphasis on excellent customer service. Utilize fundamental accounting skills to perform financial reporting in order for leaders to forecast, budget, monitor, and account for various funding sources across multiple project plans.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

Knowledge of: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
  • Advanced knowledge of excel and database functions
  • Degree in business related field, preferred

Skill & Ability to

  • Interpret, comprehend and apply laws, rules and regulations for institution, state, federal and a variety of funding agencies
  • Research, compile and analyze data, providing high level of accuracy with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skill in prioritizing, organizing and executing a variety of tasks simultaneously and effectively
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships, interacting in a supportive manner with faculty, staff, and outside agencies
  • Communicate information clearly, concisely and accurately to others in person and/or on the telephone, exercising tact, patience, discretion, and professional demeanor
  • Use a computer and applicable accounting software
  • Provide outstanding customer service
