Project Manager 3 – Yale Public Safety
Essential Duties
1. Oversees the execution and implementation of detailed project plans in concert with stakeholders. 2. Manages several routine projects simultaneously and ensures that the design, testing, training, documentation and prioritization objectives are met. 3. Assists in refining and re-sequencing during the implementation and execution phases of assigned projects, as needed. 4. Works closely with business analysts, technical professionals, end users and project stake holders during the requirements, solutions design and implementation phases to develop detailed project plans for implementation. 5. Works on risk assessment, communication planning, development of performance metrics, and project entry criteria. 6. Creates detailed project plans including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful project completion. 7. Manages client expectations and provides issue/risk identification and escalation pathways. 8. May supervise the implementation team of cross-functional project and technical resources. 9. Designs, develops, and executes communication systems to ensure effective exchange of information between project stakeholders, senior management, and staff. 10. Resolves complex project issues that involve representatives from multiple organizations. 11. Complies with standard policies and procedures. 12. May supervise and train junior project managers. 13. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and five years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Focus:
Yale Public Safety seeks an experienced and enthusiastic Project Manager to join the team. This position drives operational efficiencies and effectiveness across the Yale Public Safety organization. The Project Manager is responsible for impacting productivity, streamlining strategic initiatives, managing projects, and communicating objectives between multiple internal and external stakeholders. The Project manager is responsible for writing, disseminating, updating, and maintaining critical business operational projects and initiatives.
The Project Manager interacts with a multi-disciplined team and gathers information from various Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop process flows to create clearly written, user-friendly processes. Develops a process development review procedure to ensure stakeholder acceptance prior to the launch of processes. The Project Manager utilizes skills with minimal supervision to drive performance improvement projects by conducting operational assessments; providing advanced statistical analyses; facilitating project teams and work groups; presenting project results and improvement proposals; developing measurement tools; and demonstrating tact and diplomacy under all working circumstances, to enhance operating capabilities. The Project Manager has a broad university function, interfacing with multiple university departments and external partners.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
5-7 years of experience: in lean project management methodologies including facilitating cross-functional teams and being a change agent; process improvement and/or project management. Proven experience in a project execution role, with a special focus on executive-level advising and interdepartmental collaboration.
Preferred Licenses or Certifications:
Certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Six Sigma Black Belt
