The Internal Coding Auditor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the proficiency and continuous development of all staff involved in coding processes for facility and professional services. The Internal Coding Auditor regularly conducts detailed coding audits and reviews the findings to identify areas where coder accuracy falls below the established standards. This involves working with Coding leaders to advise on implementing corrective actions and providing targeted training to address any deficiencies. The role requires meticulous tracking of coding regulations at both the state and federal levels. The Internal Coding Auditor ensures that all coding practices within the organization comply with these regulations, thereby minimizing the risk of non-compliance. The Internal Coding Auditor must have a thorough understanding of third-party reimbursement guidelines.
