TxDOT's Dallas District is looking for a Maintenance Contract Inspector (General Transportation Tech) I, II, or III based in Mesquite, TX. This position performs routine work related to transportation activities such as construction inspection, routine & contract maintenance, bridge inspection, record keeping, roadway repair, light & heavy equipment operation, preventive & minor maintenance on equipment, traffic control, & assisting the public during emergency situations. Performs highly complex transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: contract maintenance and/or material and process inspection; roadway maintenance and repair; operates light and heavy equipment; preventative and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; helping the public during emergency situations; and training other employees. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Essential Duties:
Maintenance Contract Inspector I: Performs routine transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: construction, maintenance, and/or material and process inspection; roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment; traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Maintenance Contract Inspector II: Performs moderately complex transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: maintenance contract and/or material and process inspections; roadway maintenance and repair; light and heavy equipment operation; preventive and minor maintenance on equipment, traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Maintenance Contract Inspector III: Performs highly complex transportation operations or maintenance support work such as: contract maintenance and/or material and process inspections; roadway maintenance and repair; operates light and heavy equipment; preventative and minor maintenance on equipment, traffic control; and helping the public during emergency situations; and training other employees. Work requires contact with private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: No education required.
Experience: MCI I = No experience required; MCI II = 1 year experience*; MCI III = 2 years experience*
Licenses and Certifications:
Currently Military or Veterans: US Military CDL Equivalent Conditions of Employment: US Military License candidates must successfully obtain Texas Class “A” CDL within 120 days of employment (or whatever number of days deemed appropriate i.e. 30 or 60 days). https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/military-skills-test-waiver
