What to Expect

Tesla is on a path to build humanoid bi-pedal robots at scale to automate repetitive and boring tasks. Core to the Tesla Bot, the navigation stack presents a unique opportunity to work on state-of-the-art algorithms for motion planning and perception culminating in their deployment to real world production applications. Our software engineers develop and own this stack from inception to deployment. Most importantly, you will see your work repeatedly shipped to and utilized by thousands of Humanoid Robots within our factories. 

What You’ll Do

• Develop state-of-the-art, online and offline mapping algorithms by fusing information from cameras, IMUs and other sensors 
• Design, validate and improve your algorithms against millions of challenging real world data sequences 
• Design automatic data generation pipelines that create high quality, unbiased ground truth labels for neural network training 
• Collaborate with a team of exceptional individuals laser focused on bringing vehicular autonomy and Humanoid robotics to fruition 

What You’ll Bring

• Expertise in key areas of computer vision and robotics, such as structure-from-motion, Visual-Inertial SLAM, large-scale mapping and localization 
• Background in Computer Science, Robotics, Physics, similar field(s) of study, or equivalent practical knowledge 
• Proficiency in writing production-quality code in modern C++ 
• Working knowledge of Python 3 with packages like numpy, scipy, opencv etc. Ability to quickly prototype and profile algorithms in Python 
• Strong Mathematical fundamentals including Linear Algebra, Vector calculus, Probability theory, Numeric optimization 
• Experience implementing math effectively in software; experienced in Eigen, Ceres, Boost, etc.

Expected Compensation

$140,000 - $360,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
