We're seeking a talented Planner to join JP Transportation, the core division driving Amazon Japan's transportation network.

In this role at the heart of Amazon operations, you'll develop short to long-term transportation plans (next 3 weeks to up to next 3 years), using in-house tools and data analytics to optimize our rapidly growing network.

Key job responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning & Network Optimization

• Develop and execute comprehensive transportation plans across multiple time horizons (3 weeks to 3 years)
• Design optimal carrier allocation strategies to support business growth
• Lead network optimization initiatives focusing on delivery performance, speed, and cost efficiency

2. Cross-functional Leadership

• Drive collaboration with multiple internal teams to create integrated transportation solutions
• Partner with global teams to identify and implement best practices and tools
• Manage key stakeholder relationships to ensure alignment with business objectives

3. Analytics & Performance Management

• Conduct scenario-based analysis using advanced simulation tools
• Develop and maintain performance metrics and reporting frameworks
• Utilize data management systems (SQL, Python, Excel) to track and analyze operational metrics

4. Process Innovation

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives for planning processes
• Implement automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency
• Benchmark performance against global standards and adapt best practices for the Japanese market

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 7+ years of professional experiences in Supply Chain / Transportation or related environment for an International company
• Minimum 3 years of project management experience
• Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot, SUMIF)
• Analytical skills with ability to handle complex data sets and develop problem-solving hypotheses
• English: Intermediate (able to attend internal meetings, able to negotiate internally)
• Japanese: Intermediate (able to attend internal meetings, able to negotiate internally)
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Comfortable writing documents for clear status report to leadership or for building consensus

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience in a business analyst/data analyst/statistical analyst role.
• 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
• 3+ years process improvement experience
• Familiarity with Transportation and Supply Chain management concepts – especially forecasting, planning, network design & optimization - gained through work experience or education.
• Recent experience in project management, handling multiple priorities, and working with varied stakeholders.
• Able to extract and process data using SQL/Redshift. Experience with VBA or Python.
