The Science, Technology, Research and Analysis (STAR) Group sits at the heart of the Home Office. The group ensures the best evidence and analysis are used to address the strategic issues facing the department. We also provide the science, technology, data, and international insights and collaboration capabilities to drive delivery.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead one of the Government’s leading data transformation and strategy teams. The role will have responsibility over a portfolio of strategic data projects own a business-led data and analytics strategy, future data investments, and have direct delivery responsibility of workstreams. Data strategy is an exciting area of work that touches everything the Department delivers which aims to drive the single strategic direction and co-ordination for data and information capabilities and services.
The work of the team is fast paced, high profile and stretching. We are looking for a high-performing, enthusiastic and inquisitive self-starter with strong critical-thinking, delivery and communication skills to drive forward the team’s work on this significant Home Office agenda.
This is a large and complex leadership role, which requires leadership of a team and a wide stakeholder group.
Your role will be to lead implementation of the Home Office data and analytics strategy, which includes future investments for a potential fiscal event, maintain the health of the portfolio and communication activities to raise the profile of new products and services.
Strategy development requires an astute connection between data, technology and business outcomes including a broad awareness of the political and cross-Government data agenda.

Working pattern
Due to the business requirements of this role, it is only available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working.
Travel
The business area is based in London so if the post holder is based in Manchester, then regular travel (approximately once or twice a month) to London - 2 Marsham Street will be required.
