Description
Position Summary/Essential Duties:
Assists the Physical Therapist in administering the Physical Therapy program to facilitate the rehabilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Physical Therapist Assistant works with the patients administering selected activities/treatments to restore, re-enforce and correct pathology to promote and/or maintain good health.
Essential duties include:
- Performs effective treatment techniques in a competent manner.
- Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable treatment and prevention.
- Participates in the discharge planning process.
- Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's Degree from a college or university accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong level of skill at building relationships and providing excellent customer service. (Required proficiency)
- Effective skills in managing difficult clients and patients. (Required proficiency)
- High degree of knowledge and competency in the practice and associated charting requirements. (Required proficiency)
- Requisite skills and ability to perform certain clinical tasks as assigned. (Required proficiency)
- High level of problem solving skill to better serve patients and staff. (Required proficiency)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to utilize computers for data entry and information retrieval. (Required proficiency)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. (Required proficiency)
- Ability to implement, and evaluate operational and administrative processes. (Required proficiency)
- Experience/knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation process and requirements, as well as all federal, state and local regulations and standards associated with the delivery of care in a Federally Qualified Health Center. (Required proficiency)
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience working in a patient-centered medical home (PCMH) environment. (Required proficiency)
- Demonstrated understanding and/or experience working in an integrated delivery environment. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required within 90 Days)
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, Ohio and/or Multi State Compact license (Required)
