Role: DevOps Engineer

The Role 

The primary focus for this role is to be a key and influential member of our team. You will be a member of a Chapter which includes DevOps Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering & DevSecOps Engineering. You will be responsible for the Continuous Improvement over our cloud and on-premises platforms. We look for opportunities to do things smarter, cheaper, quicker, and ensuring everything we do can be re-used across the squads. 

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain the pipelines for publishing code to Azure
• As part of your team drive the DevOps principles, design & security patterns and DevOps culture
• Create and maintain Azure infrastructure across all environments using Infrastructure as code
• Propose and implement time-saving initiatives 
• Create and maintain monitoring at all levels (infrastructure, app, data) 
• Monitor issues and availability and ensure the correct escalation path is followed
• Monitor performance and propose improvements
• Implement auto-scaling of resources to meet the needs of the moment 
• Collaborate with all DevOps team members
• Help to commoditise cloud services where possible 
• Identify engineering limits, bottlenecks and tipping points before they’re reached

Person Specification 

Mandatory skillset: 

• Experience of working as an engineer, working on solutions in Azure or hybrid cloud. Preferably with Azure DevOps. 
• Experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Management Templates 
• Experience setting up and working with Azure DevOps pipelines 
• Knowledge of Cloud native, microservices, containerized systems
• To have a strong desire for continuous improvement and an Agile way of working 
• Experience with C# build processes
