The Children and Schools Statistics Unit is responsible for the collection, analysis and dissemination of an exceptionally wide range of high-profile and impactful statistics relating to education and children’s social care.
The data provided by the unit feeds into a wide range of high impact and critical analyses performed within the DfE and beyond. Collectively, they support the smooth operations of the English education and children's social care system, providing the information underpinning children social care and early years provision, teacher recruitment planning, and pupil attendance management, amongst many other important services.
We are looking for an experienced analyst who is passionate about delivering high-quality statistics and improving processes. As a member of the team, you could work across a number of topics and to multiple teams within the unit to support priority areas, making this an exciting opportunity to have a varied and interesting role.
This post is a new opportunity to work across multiple teams within the unit to support priority areas in a flexible way, with ties to specific publications within Early Years and DfE’s most viewed statistic, Pupil Attendance in Schools.
You will work on these core publications over the year, providing support to the teams to enable development of Reproducible Analytical Pipelines, improvements to publication content and development of core metrics. As publication pipelines are streamlined, the publications and teams that require support will change over time. This means you will have the chance to build up knowledge of different topics and working practices.
Due to the flexible nature of this role, you will need to enjoy variety, be comfortable asking questions, and be confident in managing your workload. The successful candidate will be able to take on board information quickly, constructively collaborate with a range of people, and have strong technical skills.
