Job summary

His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, First Mine Counter Measure Squadron and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year. 

RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons.

Job description

This Project Delivery Sponsor post supports the Assistant Head Waterfront South within the Deputy Head Infrastructure (DHI) Directorate at HMNB Clyde and is responsible for:

  • Acting as DHI lead to support delivery of major works projects and assurance of through life asset management for the Waterfront South area.
  • Acting as Project Delivery Sponsor, setting user requirements and assuring delivery of 10-year Capital Investment Programme.
  • Acting as Intelligent Customer for the assurance of maintenance and through life replacement programme delivered through our Industry Partner Maintenance Management Organisation.
  • Working across organisations to deliver in an integrated and optimal way.
  • Leading and developing their own team within the Waterfront South area.
  • Ensuring compliance with nuclear site authorisation conditions and conventional Health & Safety legislative requirements.

Person specification

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • The ability to both lead and work within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver ambitious outcomes through collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a wide range of partners at all levels of business.
  • Experience of infrastructure delivery in a high hazard operational environment.
  • Experience of working within a Licenced, Authorised, Regulatory or similar environment.
  • Completed Nuclear Introductory course or willing to attend within one year.
  • Obtained Managing Successful Programmes qualification or willing to obtain within one year.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
