The NYC Public Health Laboratory (PHL) is one of the largest local public health laboratories in the United States where employees contribute to the health and safety of NYC residents by providing clinical and environmental laboratory testing services. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team and continue to make history at the world's first municipal public health laboratory. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Public Health Laboratory is seeking an Associate Director for our Microbiology Section (Director, Office of Planning and Development).
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
Provide oversight to assigned Units and all programs therein.

Qualifications
1. Possession of a M.D. degree from an accredited school of medicine or possession of a doctorate degree in a relevant chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited college or university and four years of postdoctoral laboratory training and experience; or
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must possess a M.D. degree or a doctorate degree in a relevant chemical, physical, or biological science as described in "1" above.
Certification
A valid NYS Department of Health (NYS DOH) certificate of qualification to act as a Laboratory Director or Technical Director in the appropriate categories for the lab(s) overseen is required. Employees must maintain the appropriate NYS DOH Certification as a Laboratory Director for the duration of employment.
