Key job responsibilities
You work with limited guidance. You own your team’s systems, proactively identifying and fixing extant risks, limitations, and deficiencies. You take a long-term view of your team’s systems and how they fit into the architecture of your organization. Your work is tactical and strategic: you identify strategic opportunities that solve tactical problems, and how to know when to invest in one over the other to deliver the greatest impact with the smallest investment. You design technology solutions and architectures that solve complex business or technical problems which may require the work of a team to build. You decompose difficult problems into straightforward tasks, components, or features that can be delivered in parallel by you and others. You lead by example, delivering solutions which are inventive, resilient, and extensible, and you make it easier for others to do the same. You correctly identify the most appropriate technical solution for a given problem, when to re-use or extend existing solutions, and when to build new ones. When you write software, it is straightforward for others to adopt, maintain and extend. You lead projects that improve engineering and operations processes, setting the standards for engineering best practices and operational excellence within your team. You ensure your team is stronger because of your presence, but does not require your presence to be successful. You are learning to force-multiply through others. Your work enables teams in your organization to build by reducing complexity, improving automation, and making procedures safer.
