BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:

Responsible for Product Validation and Release of new products and managing the global testing services for power transmission applications within respective laboratory. This position will also have responsibilities for test equipment engineering, design development and maintenance.

Responsible for overall lab performance and day to day operation, including generation of test plans (DVP&R), test procedures to improve testing efficiency, full execution of test programs and formal reporting of results. Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives that yield laboratory efficiencies, monitor metrics to support improvements in lab throughput, cycle time, and equipment utilization.

Develops plans and programs that meet present and anticipated lab requirements. Monitors and inspects the facility to ensure that utility systems are fully operational and that preventive maintenance schedules are being followed.

Responsible for maintenance, repair, upgrades, procurement and scheduling of laboratory, prototype and machine shop equipment for optimum efficiency and development cycle time reduction. Responsibilities include some building/facility and equipment maintenance. 

Responsible for managing personnel within laboratory(s), machine shop and/or pilot lab directly or through lead personnel. Oversight of work scheduled within laboratory(s) to ensure high productivity and quality.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of ISO-9001/TS16949 quality standards and Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) processes and procedures within laboratory(s) and facility.

Administrative responsibilities include management of expense and capital budgets, Capital Requisitions, oracle procurement, hiring, employee performance management, employee development, policy deployment and other areas as required.

Analysis and reporting of test data including application of statistical tools to support lab(s) and development projects. Application of DFSS tools such as DOE, GR&R Weibull, DVP&R and capability analysis.

SKILLS

  • High level of English both oral and written proficiency
  • Manages audits and ensures compliance to internal, customer and industry norms
  • Coordinate activities with other Regional and global Research and Development Centers as per the business needs
  • Test Equipment design, fabrication and commissioning knowledge required
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Understanding and ability to apply concepts of testing and measurements
  • Practical knowledge of mechanical products, mechanisms, and systems for power transmission applications
  • Experience in supervising people and managing multiple projects and/or teams
  • Demonstrated experience with budgetary guidelines and capital expenses
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite and other ERP systems, such as Oracle and other programs used within the profession
  • Experience in partnering with business leaders on developing and driving global initiatives
  • High Level interpersonal and leadership skills; must be able to influence and coach across multiple teams/levels within the company and locations; including establishing global partnerships.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (minumum required ) :

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in facilities, testing, laboratory, equipment or manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or management degree required masters preferred.
  • Understanding of Automotive and Industrial customer expectations and quality systems (TS-16949/IATF)
  • Understanding of lab/Prototype/Machine shop best practices for Safety and establish the groundwork to become ISO-17025 compliant
  • Management experience
  • Strong equipment and instrumentation background.
  • Experience with product and process development (APQP)
  • ASQ CRE, CQM or CQE desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/TL9000/TS16949 QMS standards.
