Devonport Naval Base is the largest Naval Base in Europe. It is a 650 acre site with 15,000 acres of water space, employing 12,000 people on site. The Base is primarily focused on delivering timely deep maintenance to the UK’s submarine fleet. It is also the operating home base for frigates, amphibious Ships, Royal Marines. It employs more than 10% of Plymouth’s workforce and contributes to 14% of Plymouth’s economy.
Devonport Naval Base is the nerve centre for the Royal Navy in the South West. It supports operations around the globe and provides the ships, submarines, people, and equipment to deliver the UK’s defence policy. Primary Purpose
1. To use your skills to facilitate the successful delivery of infrastructure and construction projects across HMNB Devonport and associated out stations. To take, responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of a project.
2. You will foster collaboration and build relationships with our Industry Partners (and their sub-contractors) and MoD stakeholders to ensure project requirements are delivered within Time, Cost and Quality parameters, aligning with future strategy, the ‘One Devonport’ vision and in accordance with the HMNB Devonport Business Plan.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Management – Day to day management of assigned projects and the associated project delivery team. Set project controls. Advise on appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transition between project phases.
2.Project Performance & Controls –translate vision into delivery objectives for the team. Manage the development of the Project Plan. Establish appropriate Project Controls. Manage performance and report progress to sponsors.
3.Business Case – Develop and draft the Business Case, with input from specialists as necessary.
4.Budget – Develop the budget and track delivery within budget.
5.Benefits Realisation – Deliver the agreed Project or Programme outcomes for the benefit of the MOD.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
You will be a skilled project manger with a background in delivering construction projects in a complex environment.
Memberships
Pre-joining Desirable – Membership of Project Management professional body (APM) and/ or Membership of a technical professional (RICS, MCIOB, RIBA) or equivalent.
Learning and Development
Pre-joining Essential: Level 5 Qualification in a relevant profession or subject that is accredited for entry to chartered membership of a technical professional institute, APM, RICS, RIBA, CIOB or equivalent.
Pre-joining Desirable, APM - PMQ.
