Supervisory Analyst – APAC Research – Vice President (12-month contract)

J.P. Morgan is seeking a bilingual (Japanese and English) Supervisory Analyst (SA) to join its APAC SA team, which consists of 21 SAs based in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America, providing 6-day, 24-hour coverage for APAC research. Our well-regarded team works closely together in a supportive environment. This role has a 5-day working week, based in our Tokyo office.

As a Supervisory Analyst in APAC Research, you will work specifically with the Japan Equity and Fixed Income research teams as well as provide English-language coverage as needed for Asia ex-Japan research. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervisory review of equity, credit, economics, FX, rates, and equity derivative research for Japan and Asia ex-Japan
  • Ensure that research complies with FINRA/FSA/JSDA and other regulations, as well as firm guidelines, including watch list review and applying appropriate disclosures
  • Multitask in a busy environment and review a variety of products: notes, in-depth company initiations, quick-take alerts, industry reports, blast e-mails, models, and PowerPoint presentations
  • Edit research when required to bring up to quality and control standards
  • Work with analysts and associates to reinforce business rules, regulatory guidelines, and look-and-feel standards
  • Work closely with translators, assigning translation when needed, and checking consistency between both language versions
  • Work in a commercial manner, balancing accuracy and speed, in order to meet morning meeting and publication deadlines

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • FINRA Series 16, and 5+ years’ experience as a Supervisory Analyst 
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English and ability to review research in both languages
  • Focused, articulate, commercially minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment 
  • Flexibility with hours, as workflow volumes may vary
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to embrace new technology

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • FINRA Series 4 a plus
  • Experience with Eidos a plus
