POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the SEYS department chair, the SEYS Director of Clinical Experiences will also work in the department with the program directors and field supervisors to oversee a comprehensive field program for the teacher candidates in the department, including collaborating to develop curriculum, and supervising the clinical field supervisors and student teachers. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships with local schools, school districts, and 7-12 school personnel;
- Placement and supervision of secondary education teacher candidates in local schools, evaluation of field sites, in public and private schools, and assisting in hiring field supervisors;
- Working collaboratively on curricular projects with faculty and administration;
- Regularly traveling to field placements to meet with cooperating teachers and other school personnel;
- Tracking the mentoring effectiveness of cooperating teachers;
- Solving conflict issues when they occur between student teachers and school personnel;
- The position requires working proficiency in technology, specifically, management platforms for assessment and supervision. Moreover, record keeping and generating reports for the department in order to comply with New York State, CAEP and other regulatory organizations is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in education, Educational Administration, or a related field;
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working within the New York City Public School system, including leadership and teaching roles;
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience mentoring pre-service and in-service teachers and/or experience working and supervising candidates of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
- Experience working with students and teachers of diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, and educational backgrounds;
- Experience with clinical placement in higher education, particularly in secondary education;
- Proficiency in technology

Salary commensurate with education and experience. The range is $82,928-$90,375.
